What is Evening EduCare?
Evening EduCare is an on-campus evening childcare program at Rollins College. The EduCare program provides enriching activities for elementary school children, including math and science exploration, arts and crafts, music, and physical activity—all carefully designed to align with best practices in afterschool programming for school-age children.
Located within the Hume House Child Development & Student Research Center, the program is available for all students enrolled in a Graduate Studies or Professional Advancement program at Rollins. It is available Monday through Thursday from 4:15–9:30 p.m.
The program aims to remove barriers for adult learners by providing reliable, high-quality childcare, enabling more parents to pursue their bachelor's or master's degrees.
Is the Evening EduCare program really free?
Yes. Through a generous gift from The Warren and Augusta Hume Foundation, the Rollins Evening EduCare program will be available at no cost to students enrolled in Rollins’ Professional Advancement and Graduate Studies programs.
There is a small registration fee of $50 for every child enrolled in the EduCare program ( capped at $100 per family).
What will my child learn in the Evening Educare Program?
With a focus on providing high-quality care, the EduCare program was developed to align with the School-Age Care Environment Rating Scale® (SACERS)—a nationally recognized assessment tool used to measure the quality of group care for school-age children. It is a reliable and valid resource tool that aids in quality assessment, accreditation preparation, and program improvement strategies.
What day and time is the Evening EduCare program available?
Parents/students can choose from flexible time slots, Monday through Thursday, ranging from 3 to 5 hours, which aligns directly with the evening class schedule within Rollins’ Professional Advancement and Graduate Studies programs.
How many children are enrolled in the Evening EduCare program?
Mirroring Rollins College's commitment to personalized education, our EduCare program maintains a 1:6 staff-to-child ratio, ensuring each child receives individualized attention and support. To ensure the program maintains this ratio, capacity is limited to 12 children per scheduled block.
